چکیده

Abstract We evaluated the impact of preliminary blood-culture antibiotic susceptibility testing on time to optimal therapy in a cohort 503 patients with monomicrobial bloodstream infections. The median from collection antibiotics was 17 hours earlier group.

Impregnated disk method for antifungal antibiotic testing.

Sixteen clinical fungal isolates were tested for antibiotic susceptibility by using disks impregnated with growth medium and antibiotic. The procedure was easier to perform, less time consuming, and as reliable as other currently available methods.

Disk diffusion susceptibility testing of Nocardia species.

The effectiveness of 13 antimicrobial agents against 51 clinical isolates of Nocardia was determined with use of agar dilutions and disk diffusion method. Amikacin inhibited less than 90% of isolates and, like the other aminoglycosides, showed good correlation between minimal inhibitory concentrations and sizes of zones of inhibition around the disks. Both sulfisoxazole and trimethoprim-sulfame...
